Rise in Greek citizens visiting Turkey in the nine months of 2014
Turkey emerges as a particularly interesting travel destination for Greek citizens. The arrivals of Greek tourists to Turkey increased by 24%, while total tourist flows rose by 6% in the first nine months of 2014 (January-September), compared to the same period of 2013, according to data presented by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
More specifically, in the period between January and September, 631,344 visitors from Greece visited Turkey in a total of more than 30 million visitors from all over the world.
This September, in particular, 63.837 Greek citizens visited Turkey, increased by 22% in comparison to September 2013.
In 2013, 35.91 million foreign visitors, out of whom 703.168 were Greek citizens, visited Turkey.
At the same level ranges the arrival of Turkish tourists in Greece as the first quarter of 2014 there has been an increase of 22,5%.
The majority of visitors in Turkey came from Russia, followed by Germany and the United Kingdom.
Among the most popular destinations, Antalya ranks first, followed by Istanbul and Muğla.
In terms of the ranking of the world’s most popular destinations, Turkey holds the 6th place and ranks 4th in Europe. The goal involves ranking 5th in the global tourism market.
